About this record:
News of a non-defined series starting on the label, pitching some of our favourite artist's lesser known gems with interpretations by some of today's leading contemporary producers.
First up is Hawkwind and two classics from their seminal 1976 album, Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music. A secret play for many the discerning DJ, The Aubergine That Ate Rangoon shows the band embrace a more electronic sound, with a motorik underbelly to create a short, but sweet off kilter nugget. This is backed with a classic of their psychedelic experience in City Of Langoons.
Respected producer Cherrystones was the obvious choice to ask to create his own versions of these classics and his 'reworks' are neither remix nor re-edit, but something inbetween, with intense hacking, manipulating and treating result in some hazy beats, dubs, psychedelia and fx-phasing all the way down.
